Your Question:
Should he insulate the attic? My son had an energy audit done on their 1920s colonial. Attic is largely floored over what appears to be vermiculite & perhaps some added cellulose. Very little venting up there, only the gable windows (no soffit or ridge vents). The company that did the audit recommends he insulate the attic, turn it into heated space. This would mean putting insulation up against the roof, and on the walls at the roof ends.
Does this make sense to forum experts? I thought the roof needed ventilation or it would deteriorate rapidly.
